The "Southern Reel" Bike Trip is About to Begin

Tomorrow Bev and I begin our drive to Charleston, SC to meet the shuttle at the Charleston airport for our trip to the Ansonborough Inn where our VBT biking trip, Charleston to Savannah:  A Southern Reel, begins.  The description for the trip says:

Towering oak trees draped with Spanish moss … Coastal islands where vineyards and distilleries have taken the place of sprawling plantations …

The extraordinary Gullah culture and local cuisine that draws from rich stocks of seafood … Architecture that ranges from ornate Victorian elegance to nostalgic Southern gothic. On an active vacation ideal for beginning and casual cyclists, we’ll savor the relaxed charm and unhurried pace of the uniquely American Southern Coast. Bask in the distinctive ambiance of Charleston and Savannah, dance the Virginia Reel, cycle through beautiful farmland, waterfront parks, and historic neighborhoods, and luxuriate in the very home of hospitality at inns that embody the spirit of the South.

This should be a fun week of a southern cultural tour of this coastal region of the US.  Although I have been to both Charleston and Savannah for meetings, this will be the first time for us to visit and indulge in the unhurried pace of this region from a bicycle.  Add to this, we will also stay mid-week in Beaufort, SC.  We will keep you informed of our progress with words and pictures over the period of the trip (September 22nd-28th).  We are excited.
